I had the honor of serving as the head of the Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Promotion Team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, and I believed that I had deepened my understanding of diversity. However, by participating in the Ally Athlete training, I not only learned about LGBTQ+ athletes and individuals but also gained a deeper understanding of what they have been hurt by, struggled with, and fought against. This made me realize that I had previously felt like I knew, but in reality, I was ashamed of my lack of knowledge. I've also realized that relaying the message is important, so I'm actively trying to get the word out and involve those around me. I want to spread the word from the sports world and create a society where everyone can live a fulfilling life by making the most of their individuality!
