Pride House Tokyo is looking for 109 people to donate and run as Charity Runners for the Tokyo Marathon 2026! As Pride Runners, let’s work together to create an LGBTQ+ inclusive society through this marathon!

As a recipient of the Tokyo Marathon Foundation’s charity RUN with HEART (※1), Pride House Tokyo, a non-profit organization, is seeking donations and 109 Charity Runners for the Tokyo Marathon 2026 on Sunday, March 1st 2026.

Your donations will be used for the operation of Pride House Tokyo Legacy – Japan’s first LGBTQ+ center operating year-round.

RUN with HEART is a charity program run by the Tokyo Marathon Foundation. In order to further expand the idea of “Let’s Convert Your Love for Running into Someone’s Happiness,” it aims to be a familiar and feel free way to contribute to society and improve our lives through running events.

Additionally, Pride House Tokyo signed an agreement with the Tokyo Marathon Foundation in September 2019 to ensure that the event is run in a safe and secure manner for all participants – regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression, and to work together to accumulate operational knowledge in community-participation sporting events.

Based on this agreement, Pride House Tokyo will work with the Tokyo Marathon Foundation on various initiatives to manage the ”Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon” and ”Tokyo Marathon,” and work together to realize a more inclusive society through the events.

Additionally, starting from the Tokyo Marathon 2025, a non-binary category was added alongside the male and female gender options, similar to the other six Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) events. We look forward to the Tokyo Marathon 2026 also being a race where – as many runners as possible can run as themselves.

◎Number of participants: 109 people

◎Donation amount: at least 100,000 yen per person
*The amount is flexible, as long as it meets the minimum requirement.
*We also accept donations from corporations.

◎Application period: June 24, 2025 11:00 – July 9, 2025 17:00 (Japan Standard Time)
*Donation-only applications are also welcome.
*Donation-only applications will be accepted between June 24, 2025 11:00 – August 29, 2025 17:00 (JST).

◎Selection method: Determined based on the criteria for Charity Runners
1) Donations of 100,000 yen or more per person: Required
2) Highest donation amount → If the donation amounts are the same, 3) will be used to determine the winner
3) Determined based on the content of the “Thoughts and/or a message to the charity” that must be entered when applying

◎Announcement method:
All applicants will be notified of the results by email. Please note that there may be a time lag in the timing of the announcement.

◎How to make the donations:
Selected applicants will be notified of the account number to which donations can be transferred to. Those who transfer their donation to the designated account between Tuesday, July 15, 2025 and Thursday, August 14, 2025 will be confirmed as runners.

Pride Runner Benefits

(1) Learn about LGBTQ+ in Japan
Description: Team members from Pride House Tokyo will provide an opportunity to learn more about the LGBTQ+ situation in Japan. The theme will be announced at a later date.
Team members from the Pride House Tokyo Consortium will provide an opportunity to learn about LGBTQ+. The theme will be announced at a later date once it has been decided.

(2) Celebration at the finish with a drag queen!
Description: On the day of the marathon, Pride House Tokyo will have a lounge space near the finish, and invite a drag queen to welcome our Pride Runners! Let’s share the joy and sense of accomplishment after the marathon with a drag queen, fellow runners, and the Pride House Tokyo team!
